Movado Group Delivers Strong Q2 Results Despite Challenging Market Conditions

Movado Group, Inc. recently reported its second quarter fiscal 2027 earnings, showcasing a resilient performance despite the ongoing challenges related to the conflict in the Middle East.

The company's sales increased by 4.9% to $169.8 million for the quarter, while adjusted operating profit rose to $15.1 million from $7 million last year. Adjusted EPS also improved to $0.54 from $0.23 last year, with $0.11 per share attributed to IEEPA duty refunds received in the quarter.

Movado Group's Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Efraim Grinberg, emphasized that the company continued to see momentum across its business and strength in consumer demand. He highlighted the four key strategic priorities driving the company's growth: putting the consumer at the center of their universe, driving innovation and delivering trend-right product, connecting with consumers through compelling content and digital storytelling, and driving profitability and strengthening gross margin.

Grinberg noted that sales growth was seen in the U.S. and across principal international markets, including Latin America and India. However, a decline in the Middle East market offset some of this growth due to headwinds from international tourism. Gross margin improved to 59.4% from 54.1%, with a 340 basis point improvement excluding IEEPA duty refunds received.

The company's balance sheet remains strong, with $212 million in cash and no debt. Movado Group also returned over $16 million to shareholders through quarterly dividend payments. Grinberg pointed out that the company is seeing strong results from its customer-centric approach, particularly in trend-right products for younger consumers.

One notable example of this success was the launch of the Baby Face mini strap watch by Movado. The product sold out quickly with more than 400 units sold on movado.com within a month. New fall colorways are planned to be released both online and through select retail partners, with expectations for a similar strong response.

The company's focus on innovation, customer connection, and profitability appears to be paying off in the face of challenging market conditions. As Movado Group continues to execute its strategy, investors will be watching closely for further developments."
