NextDecade Corporation Shines in Q3 2026: Record-Breaking LNG Production on Track

NextDecade Corporation, a leading developer of liquefied natural gas (LNG) facilities, has announced impressive progress in its third quarter of 2026. During the conference call and webcast held on October 29th, executives revealed that the company is making excellent strides towards first LNG production at Rio Grande LNG.

According to Matt Schatzman, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of NextDecade, Phase I construction remains safe, on budget, and ahead of schedule. The company has reaffirmed its guidance for first LNG production from Train 1, with a narrowed window now set for the second quarter of 2027. Additionally, Trains 2 and 3 are also running ahead of schedule and aligned with early volume guidance.

One of the key highlights of NextDecade's Q3 performance is its favorable market exposure. Spot LNG prices have increased materially over the last year due to supply losses from the Middle East, leading to strong demand for LNG. Based on current forward LNG and U.S. gas prices, the company estimates that volume-weighted average implied margins on projected uncontracted volumes from Train 1 startup in 2027 through first commercial delivery under the Train 5 long-term SPAs at RGLNG would average over $6 per MMBtu – more than $1 per MMBtu above its base case guidance.

This favorable market environment is expected to result in significant cash flow for NextDecade, with projected distributable cash flow during this period totaling over $2.4 billion – or 20% above the projected $2 billion of cash flow in their base case guidance. This growth potential has the company feeling confident about its position in the LNG market.

As of September 2026, Trains 1 and 2 were nearly 80% complete, with engineering and procurement nearing completion, construction almost finished at 70%, and commissioning approaching 5%. Train 3, meanwhile, was more than 55% complete, with engineering nearly finished, procurement above 90%, and construction near 25%

NextDecade's progress in Q3 2026 is a testament to its commitment to delivering high-quality LNG production facilities on time and within budget. As the company continues to navigate the dynamic LNG market, investors and stakeholders alike will be watching closely for further updates.
