NextEra Energy Delivers Strong Q2 2026 Earnings, Accelerating Growth in Power Demand

NextEra Energy, Inc. has reported strong financial results for the second quarter of 2026, with adjusted earnings per share (EPS) reaching $1.15. This represents a year-over-year increase of 9.8% over the first six months of the year.

In a conference call to discuss the quarterly results, John Ketchum, Chairman, President, and Chief Executive Officer of NextEra Energy, highlighted the company's ability to meet growing power demand needs in Florida and beyond. He noted that NextEra Energy has the scale, financial strength, supply chain, development expertise, and technology to build all forms of energy.

"Customers can't afford to wait for an energy partner to secure equipment, land, or financing," Ketchum said. "States shouldn't have to choose between economic growth and affordable electric bills. Today, energy partners must deliver both."

NextEra Energy's Florida Power & Light (FPL) subsidiary added more than 90,000 customers in the second quarter compared to the prior year comparable quarter, reflecting the state's rapid growth and net in-migration. FPL's typical residential bill remains approximately 30% below the national average, driven by exceptional operational efficiency.

"We drive consistently low bills through exceptional operational efficiency," Ketchum said. "FPL's non-fuel O&M is more than 70% better than the industry average on a dollar per megawatt hour basis."

The company's regulated and long-term contracted businesses continue to deliver strong results, positioning NextEra Energy for growth opportunities in 2026 and beyond. With its diversified generation fleet and highly efficient operating model, FPL is well-equipped to meet the increasing electricity demand across its service area.

"FPL consistently delivers affordability, reliability, and serving growth at the same time," Ketchum said. "Today's call demonstrates our commitment to serving our customers and delivering them the solutions they need when and where they need it."

The NextEra Energy executive team was available to answer questions during the conference call, providing further insights into the company's performance and outlook.
