Nortech Systems Soars to New Heights: A Quarterly Review

Nortech Systems Incorporated has reported a robust second quarter performance, building on its strong operational momentum and solidifying its position in the industry. As the company continues to execute across its business, it has achieved significant year-over-year growth in key areas.

Net sales have increased by 9.3% compared to the same period last year, reaching $33.5 million. This growth is attributed to higher revenue levels, improved manufacturing cost absorption from increased production activity, and continued progress following restructuring initiatives undertaken in late 2024 and early 2025. Despite being partially offset by higher incentive compensation expense, Nortech's results reflect the company's growing competitiveness.

The company's backlog remains a clear indicator of its strategy's effectiveness. As of June 30, 2026, the 90-day shipment backlog stood at $33.4 million, representing a 6.3% increase from the beginning of the quarter and a notable 25.8% growth over the same period in 2025. The total order backlog also showed substantial growth, rising by 3.4% from the start of the quarter and 19.8% year-over-year.

The year-over-year growth in total backlog was primarily driven by increases in aerospace and defense as well as medical imaging orders. This progress underscores stronger customer engagement, successful program transfers, and the value of Nortech's manufacturing footprint across the U.S., Mexico, and China. The company continues to see strong quoting activity as customers evaluate nearshore manufacturing strategies for North America and Asia.

Nortech's North American footprint positions it well in the market, particularly with its Monterrey, Mexico, Maquiladora operations and Minnesota facilities operating within the framework of the US-Mexico-Canada Agreement. While the tariff environment remains uncertain, the company is actively monitoring developments, pursuing reimbursement and recovery of previously paid IEEPA-related tariffs.

In a move aimed at strengthening its supply chain leadership, Nortech recently appointed a new vice president of supply chain in June 2026. This addition comes as selected component constraints, longer lead times, allocation pressures, and price volatility continue to affect many OEMs and EMS providers. The company is working closely with customers and suppliers to plan ahead, secure critical materials, and protect production continuity.

The company's focus on supply chain resilience reflects its proactive approach to managing trade policy, geopolitical uncertainty, and supply chain risk. With its operational momentum and strategic moves in place, Nortech Systems appears poised for continued success as it moves through the remainder of 2026.
