Northeast Bank Soars to Record-Breaking Success in Q4 2026 with Strong Earnings and Loan Volume Growth
North East Bank, a leading financial institution, has announced its record-breaking results for the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2026. In a recent conference call, Rick Wayne, President and Chief Executive Officer, revealed that the bank earned $34.3 million or $4.05 per share, fully diluted, with a return on equity of 23.5% and a return on assets of 2.7%. These figures mark a significant improvement over the previous quarter and year-end results.
For the full fiscal year, Northeast Bank achieved a record net income of $107.5 million, representing a 29% increase from the previous year's net income of $83.4 million. The company's per-share earnings for the year were $12.74, with a return on equity of 19.7% and a return on assets of 2.3%. This exceptional performance is attributed to the bank's continued balance sheet growth, strong loan performance, and disciplined expense management.
Loan volume was also a highlight in Q4 2026, with Northeast Bank recording $389.8 million in loan originations, including record-breaking national lending originations of $257.3 million and purchases of $94.4 million. The company's total loans, including those held for sale, increased by $802 million or 21% from June 30th, 2025. This growth is expected to continue as the bank remains committed to its expansion strategies.
The National Lending Division also saw significant growth, with loan volumes in FY 2026 reaching $1.95 billion, up from $1.754 billion in FY 2025. The Net Interest Margin (NIM) remained strong at 4.8% for the quarter and year, reflecting the bank's ability to manage its interest income effectively.
However, Northeast Bank also faced some challenges, particularly with its Insured Small Business Loan Product. Despite originating $102 million in such loans during FY 2026, the company was unable to sell them at attractive enough pricing. To address this issue, Northeast Bank increased the insurance protection to 25% with a higher deductible, allowing it to keep these loans on its books for longer than initially anticipated.
Overall, Northeast Bank's Q4 2026 results demonstrate the company's continued success and growth in the financial sector. With strong earnings, loan volume growth, and disciplined expense management, Northeast Bank is well-positioned for future expansion and success.
