OneMain Financial Surpasses Expectations in Q3 2026 with Strong Receivables Growth and Improved Credit Performance

The OneMain Financial Third Quarter 2026 Earnings Conference Call, held on October 30th, offered a glimpse into the company's impressive performance during the quarter. Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Doug Shulman highlighted several key highlights from the period.

Receivables continued to grow, reaching $28 billion in the quarter, representing a 9% year-over-year increase. This significant growth demonstrates OneMain Financial's ability to deliver profitable expansion through disciplined execution and progress against its strategic priorities. The company further fortified its already strong balance sheet, with capital generation rising 4% year-over-year to $284 million.

OneMain Financial also reported improved credit performance in the quarter. The consumer loan 30-89 delinquency rate declined by 12 basis points year-over-year, better than the 3 basis point decline seen last quarter. Year-to-date, the decline has been 28 basis points, outperforming low single-digit declines both from previous years and pre-pandemic periods.

C&I net charge-offs were 7.2%, and consumer loan net charge-offs were 6.9%, both showing significant improvements over last quarter's numbers. The company also saw good recoveries resulting from efforts to enhance recovery capabilities across the business, with a 7% year-over-year growth in its consumer loan business.

In the personal loan business, secured lending accounted for nearly 60% of originations this quarter, reflecting lower losses and contributing to higher overall originations. OneMain Financial's enhanced debt consolidation offering, new home fixture secured loan offering, and increased use of bank data all contributed to these gains.

Across the company, team members are continually finding ways to refine their processes and drive efficiencies, focusing on continuous improvement and execution. This approach has led to profitable growth and solidified OneMain Financial's position as a leader in the financial industry.
