Pearl Diver Credit Company Sees Recovery in Q2 2026 Earnings Amid Steady Loan Market

Good morning and welcome to our coverage of Pearl Diver Credit Company's second quarter earnings conference call. The company recently reported its Q2 2026 earnings, highlighting a recovery in the asset class amid a quiet start to the year.

The CLO equity markets experienced a strong rebound in May, with approximately $1.9 billion of trading activity on viewings, marking a record month for the asset class. This surge in liquidity supported valuations through the quarter end, resulting in a net asset value per share of $11.15, up 6.4% from March 31st's value of $10.48.

Net assets rose to $77.3 million, with the portfolio generating a net increase in net assets from operations of $8.5 million. This recovery is consistent with the company's view that the first quarter drawdown reflected spread widening rather than deterioration in the credit underlying their portfolio.

Loan prices were broadly stable throughout Q2 2026, with the index ending June at 94.96, modestly higher than its March close of 94.63. Senior CLO debt tranches continued to perform well, and CLO equity returns benefited from the steadier loan backdrop.

Underlying fundamentals remain constructive, with default rates still low and weakness concentrated in individual credits rather than broad-based. With loan prices settling at levels below par, new CLO equity continues to offer an attractive entry point, with around a third of the underlying loans trading above par and carrying some spread compression risk.

According to Indranil Basu, Chief Executive Officer of Pearl Diver Credit Company, 'The reinvestment profile of the book is worth putting numbers to, because it is the feature that gives the underlying CLOs room to work.' This strategic focus on managing the portfolio's reinvestment profile may provide a competitive edge in an increasingly stable loan market.

The company's recovery in Q2 2026 earnings marks a promising turn of events for investors. With net unrealized gains of $6.7 million against $25.1 million of unrealized losses in the first quarter, the portfolio has shown resilience and adaptability amidst market fluctuations.
