Phibro Animal Health Corporation Delivers Strong First Quarter Performance
Phibro Animal Health Corporation has announced its first quarter results for fiscal 2027, showcasing a solid start to the year with sales growing 6% to $386.8 million and adjusted EBITDA increasing 4% to $64.3 million.
The company's two non-animal health segments, Performance Products and Mineral Nutrition, drove the growth this quarter. Mineral Nutrition, in particular, saw a 17% increase in sales, with higher prices for zinc, copper, and other underlying commodities contributing to the growth. The segment has been strategically positioned to focus on the higher-margin, faster-growing parts of the market, including plant nutrition, dairy, and pet food.
Phibro's Mineral Nutrition business has been investing in talent, facilities, and processes to meet the evolving needs of customers in these markets. This approach has paid off, with the segment growing in areas that play to its strengths. The company expects this trend to continue, driven by the increasing demand for more on ingredient sourcing, quality, consistency, and technical support from customers.
On the animal health side, sales grew 3%, meeting expectations. Major feed additives (MFAs) saw a 6% increase in sales, with strong demand in North America and Asia. The ethanol processing aids segment also continued to grow. However, nutritional specialties and vaccines experienced declines of 2% each, largely due to softer poultry purchases in North America and Brazil.
According to reports from major protein companies, the U.S. chicken supply was up over 2%, outpacing demand and pushing prices down. This has put pressure on producer margins, which have come off last year's unusually strong levels.
Dani Bendheim, President and Chief Executive Officer of Phibro Animal Health Corporation, noted that fiscal 2027 is off to a good start despite the tough comparison coming from last year's very strong first quarter. The company remains optimistic about its prospects for the rest of the year, driven by its diversified portfolio and strategic positioning.
Phibro Animal Health Corporation has demonstrated its ability to adapt and grow in response to changing market conditions. With a solid foundation in animal health and a growing presence in non-animal health segments, the company is well-positioned for continued success.
