PPL Corporation Surges Ahead: Strong Execution, Brighter Growth Outlook, and New Opportunities on the Horizon
In a recent conference call, PPL Corporation presented its third-quarter 2026 earnings update, showcasing impressive execution, an upgraded business plan with enhanced growth prospects, and significant opportunities in store. The company's President and CEO, Vince Sorgi, took center stage to share key highlights from the quarter.
With a strong focus on delivering results, PPL Corporation reported solid performance across its regulated businesses, driven by continued economic development in service territories. This growth momentum has led the company to revise its long-term annual earnings per share (EPS) growth target to 7%-9% through at least 2030, with expectations of achieving growth within the higher range starting from 2027.
The updated business plan encompasses a new capital investment program totaling $25 billion from 2027 through 2030, supporting 10% compound annual rate base growth between 2026 and 2030. Notably, this incremental investment is largely expected to be borne by large load customers driving these investments, rather than existing customers.
Looking ahead, PPL Corporation has identified substantial medium- to long-term opportunities, totaling $12 billion-$16 billion through 2032. This includes additional regulated generation investments in Kentucky aimed at addressing rising potential demand growth, representing a $6 billion-$7 billion incremental investment opportunity through 2032 and up to $4.5 billion through 2030.
The company has also announced a significant collaboration with Invitium Energy on approximately 2 GW of generation capacity in Pennsylvania, marking a major milestone for Invitium and reinforcing PPL's commitment to supporting long-term energy affordability. This partnership excludes any financial impacts on the company's updated business plan.
As stated by Vince Sorgi during the conference call, 'The investments we're making across our regulated businesses, combined with continued economic development in our service territories, give us even greater confidence in PPL's growth profile.'
The Invitium Energy collaboration is expected to provide meaningful shareowner value potential. The company has also signed a letter of intent and cost reimbursement agreement for specified development costs and commitments tied to the QTS data center project in Pennsylvania.
