ProMIS Neurosciences Delivers Encouraging Interim Results from PRECISE-AD Trial and Advances Pipeline


ProMIS Neurosciences has made significant strides in its clinical development pipeline, with encouraging interim results from the phase I-B PRECISE-AD trial of PMN310, a monoclonal antibody designed to treat Alzheimer's disease. The company also reported progress on its other product candidates, including PMN267 for ALS and PMN442 for synucleinopathies such as dementia with Lewy bodies and Parkinson's disease.

In a recent conference call, Neil Warma, President and Chief Executive Officer of ProMIS Neurosciences, highlighted the company's focus on developing antibody therapies and therapeutic vaccines for neurodegenerative diseases. The company's platform is designed to selectively target toxic misfolded proteins while sparing their healthy, properly folded counterparts.

The blinded interim analysis from the PRECISE-AD trial yielded a favorable safety profile across all participants and genotypes, with no cases of ARIA-E reported. Early directionally consistent movement was observed in two complementary biomarkers, plasma p-tau217 and CSF MTBR-tau243, which is consistent with target engagement. These results reinforce the central thesis behind PMN310, that by selectively targeting toxic amyloid beta oligomers rather than plaque, the company has the potential to deliver the benefits of amyloid-directed therapy without the ARIA burden.

ProMIS Neurosciences believes that Alzheimer's disease and other neurodegenerative diseases share a common biological cause - normal proteins that misfold become toxic and kill neurons. The company is advancing multiple product candidates, including PMN310, PMN267 for ALS, and PMN442 for synucleinopathies such as dementia with Lewy bodies and Parkinson's disease.
