Protecting Patients and Delivering Strong Results: Kestra Medical Technologies Exceeds Expectations

Kestra Medical Technologies, a leading provider of innovative medical technologies, has kicked off the new fiscal year with impressive financial performance in its first quarter. The company's Q1 2027 earnings conference call highlighted the continued success of its integrated care model and strong revenue growth.

In a poignant example, a patient was prescribed the ASSURE WCD for protection during a high-risk period between removal of his implanted defibrillator and scheduled lead extractions. Shortly after fitting, the ASSURE system recorded more than 120 diverted therapies in one night, prompting immediate outreach from Kestra's Heart Alert Services team. The team remained in close contact until the patient agreed to go to the nearest emergency department, where he received a successful lead extraction and replacement device. This case demonstrates the differentiated value of Kestra's integrated care model, which provides continuous protection and clinical insight while turning that insight into action when it matters most.

On a financial front, revenue advanced sequentially off a strong fourth quarter, growing 60% year-over-year to $31 million. Gross margin of 56.5% increased over 10 points year-over-year and 175 basis points sequentially, marking the 11th quarter in a row of sequential gross margin expansion. This demonstrates the attractive unit economics and volume leverage of Kestra's business model.

Importantly, the company is not simply a gross margin story. Brian Webster, President and Chief Executive Officer, emphasized that Kestra's mission to provide innovative medical technologies that protect and support at-risk patients guides both the technology created and the experience delivered. The company's focus on patient-centered care has driven its success in reaching more patients and delivering strong financial results.

"We're excited to discuss the strong financial performance we had in the first quarter and the continued progress we are making on our key operational objectives," said Brian Webster during the conference call. "One patient's experience this quarter demonstrates how those forms of protection work together... Therapeutic protection, clinical insight, and responsive support working together when it matters most."

The company is increasingly confident that Kestra can achieve mid-70s gross margin percentage in the next few years, a meaningful increase from its previously communicated target of 70%. This growth outlook underscores the potential for sustained success and further highlights the attractive economics of Kestra's business model.
