Sands Sees Bright Future Amid Q3 Challenges

Sands, a leading player in the Asian gaming and hospitality industry, reported a mixed bag of results for its third quarter 2026. While facing softer high-end demand in both Singapore and Macao, the company delivered strong financial performance at Marina Bay Sands in Singapore and maintained market share leadership in Macao.

Patrick Dumont, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, highlighted the resilience of Sands' long-term strategy in both markets during a recent conference call. "We remain confident in our long-term strategy in both Singapore and Macao," he said, adding that the company would continue to invest for future growth. Notably, Sands has a long-term view on economic growth in Asia, anticipating continued trends of wealth creation and premium travel demand.

Marina Bay Sands in Singapore generated an EBITDA (Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation, and Amortization) of $590 million for the quarter, beating expectations. This performance reflected the property's structural earnings power following significant product investments, suite renovations, service enhancements, and premium customer strategy execution. The company believes that growth in tourism in Singapore will continue over the long term.

In Macao, Sands delivered $529 million of EBITDA for the quarter, with gaming revenues and volumes outperforming the market overall. Market share of Macao mass gaming revenue reached 26.1% for the quarter, the company's strongest performance since Q4 2023. Gaming volume growth was seen across all segments, including rolling volume up 31% year-over-year.

Sands' commitment to reinvestment in Macao remains consistent, aiming for greater profitability as revenues grow. Operating expenses were increased through investments in additional table operating hours, sales and marketing personnel, and enhanced customer service levels.

Looking ahead, Sands remains enthusiastic about growth opportunities presented by its new development project in Singapore, set to increase premium suite capacity, services, and entertainment offerings. The company expects the new arena to be the finest in Asia, with a projected opening in early 2031, subject to government approvals.

The conference call provided insight into Sands' ability to adapt to market conditions while maintaining focus on long-term growth strategies. Despite Q3 challenges, the company's financial performance and commitment to innovation underscore its resilience in an evolving industry landscape.
