Sera Prognostics Hits Key Milestones in Second Quarter 2026: Expanding Commercial Engagements and Unlocking Policy Momentum

Sera Prognostics, a leading developer of innovative diagnostic solutions for high-risk pregnancy, marked significant progress in the second quarter of 2026. The company's President and Chief Executive Officer, Zhenya Lindgardt, highlighted several key wins during the quarterly earnings conference call.

The quarter saw Sera expand commercial engagements through the launch of its fourth partnership program. This initiative aims to support quality improvement and maternal health objectives through a value-added benefits framework. By integrating PreTRM Test-guided care within existing maternal health programs, the company is cultivating an ecosystem that fosters broader market utilization.

One notable achievement was the unlocking of Illinois Medicaid coverage legislation, which provides access to evidence-based preterm birth risk assessment for tens of thousands of Medicaid pregnancies annually. This milestone reflects growing recognition of preterm birth as a significant public health challenge and increased awareness of evidence-based solutions like PreTRM Test.

The company also strengthened its clinical evidence base through the publication of PRIME data in first-time mothers, demonstrating significant reductions in NICU admissions and severe neonatal morbidity reductions. This advancement reinforces Sera's confidence in the long-term opportunity ahead for PreTRM Test-guided care.

Sera continues to execute a geographically focused commercialization strategy, expanding payer discussions across the country. The company is driven by engagement with payers, state agencies, and legislators in markets where maternal health outcomes, Medicaid priorities, and policy momentum create favorable conditions for converting market access into adoption.

Illinois serves as an excellent example of the effectiveness of Sera's commercialization strategy. Initially not included in the states supporting payer engagement objectives for 2026, Illinois emerged as one of the most active opportunities in the company's pipeline due to increased awareness among providers, policymakers, maternal health advocates, and payers. This outcome illustrates how Sera's strategy extends beyond traditional payer contracting by combining evidence generation, policy engagement, provider advocacy, and awareness-building activities.

The company has launched its fourth partnership program, expanding implementation of PreTRM Test-guided care through a state-based initiative with a national payer. This move remains on track towards the goal of establishing five to seven commercial programs in targeted geographies.

Sera has also exceeded its objective of doubling the number of payer discussions across 15 to 20 states during 2026, engaging with more than 20 payer opportunities across over 20 states. This expansion into new opportunities is driven through payer referrals and growing market awareness, expanding Sera's pipeline more rapidly than anticipated.
