Shenandoah Telecommunications Delivers Record-Breaking Q2 Earnings Amid Fiber Boom
Shenandoah Telecommunications, a leading provider of telecommunications services, has reported impressive second-quarter earnings that showcase the company's resilience and growth momentum in the fiber-optic market.
In its recently concluded conference call for Q2 2026, Shenandoah Telecommunications highlighted several key achievements, starting with a record-breaking 6,200 Glo Fiber net additions during the quarter. This strong demand for Glo Fiber further underscores the success of the company's seven-year investment in fiber to the home.
The company also achieved notable milestones in its Glo Fiber business, surpassing 100,000 data customers and representing 31.3% year-over-year growth. The combined revenue from Glo Fiber and commercial fiber grew by an impressive 21.4% compared to last year's second quarter.
Consolidated revenue for the quarter stood at $93.5 million, marking a 5.5% annual increase, while adjusted EBITDA reached $32 million, up 12.9% from Q2 2025. This growth reflects Shenandoah Telecommunications' continued commitment to its fiber-first strategy, which includes early investments in fiber-to-the-home starting in 2019 and the expansion of commercial fiber through strategic acquisitions.
The company's operating footprint provides a significant advantage, with close proximity to major data center hubs in Ashburn, Virginia, and Columbus, Ohio. As Shenandoah Telecommunications completes its fiber-to-the-home build and positions for positive free cash flow beginning in 2027, the company is poised for sustained growth.
On the conference call, Ed McKay, President and Chief Executive Officer of Shenandoah Telecommunications, expressed gratitude to his team members for their dedication and execution in achieving these results. He noted that the company remains on track to substantially complete its Glo Fiber expansion in 2026, reaching 510,000 passings.
Shenandoah Telecommunications' sales and marketing efforts continue to drive strong growth across its Glo Fiber expansion markets. The company added over 6,000 new customers during Q2 2026, a record for quarterly net additions, and nearly 7,000 total data, video, and voice revenue-generating units.
With second-quarter construction showing significant progress, with more than 26,000 passings added, bringing the total to over 475,000, penetration rose to 21.1%, a 20 basis point increase over the first quarter and a 93 basis point increase year-over-year.
