Simmons First National Corporation Scores Big in Q2 2026 with Robust Deposit Growth and Improved Funding Efficiency
Arkansas-based bank Simmons First National Corporation has kicked off the second quarter of 2026 on a high note, showcasing significant growth in non-interest-bearing deposits and enhanced funding efficiency.
The company reported a 4% annualized increase in its non-interest-bearing deposit base during Q2 2026, marking a notable achievement for the bank. This surge in deposits is a direct result of Simmons' strategic efforts to attract new customers while deepening relationships with existing ones, as well as reducing attrition rates.
"We're proud of our growth in non-interest-bearing deposits in the second quarter," stated Daniel Hobbs, CFO of Simmons First National Corporation. "This is the highest quality of deposits, and we grew that 4% annualized." Hobbs emphasized the importance of deposit growth as a key focus area for the company over the next 12 to 24 months.
In addition to robust deposit growth, Simmons has also optimized its funding strategy by reducing dependence on borrowings and brokered funds. The bank's net interest income (NIB) experienced a significant increase during Q2 2026, demonstrating improved funding efficiency.
"We've been talking about deposits a lot, and that continues to be one of our biggest focuses strategically," Hobbs explained. "We're very early innings in our strategy and executing around that deposit growth."
Simmons' efforts to boost core deposit growth have been bolstered by recent leadership hires and initiatives aimed at enhancing customer attraction and retention. The bank has reported a positive trend in new customer balances inflowing, while existing customer balances are being retained.
"When you look at actual balances from this quarter, we had more inflows of new customer balances versus outflows of customer balances, that was a positive trend for us," Hobbs noted.
Overall, Simmons First National Corporation's Q2 2026 performance demonstrates the bank's commitment to achieving long-term success through strategic investment and operational excellence. As the company continues to execute its growth strategy, investors can expect further improvements in deposit growth, funding efficiency, and overall financial performance.
