STAAR Surgical Delivers Record Revenue and Strong Profitability in Q3 2026
STAAR Surgical, a leading medical technology company, has reported record revenue and strong profitability for the third quarter of 2026. The company's President and Chief Executive Officer, Warren Foust, highlighted the key highlights from the quarter during a conference call with investors.
"At the start of the year, we set three goals: revenue growth, profit expansion, and innovation acceleration," said Foust. "Through the first nine months, we've made progress on all three." The company's strong cash flow and debt-free balance sheet have given it flexibility to invest in its future.
The company's China market has been a major driver of growth, with revenue growing 31% excluding a one-time $25.9 million recognized in the third quarter 2025. Distributor unit shipments in the China market grew 12.4% through the first nine months, outpacing the broader Chinese refractive market.
STAAR Surgical's focus on ensuring proper inventory levels has also paid off, with distributor inventory declining over the past four quarters to below its six-month target, while in-market unit volume shipments have grown. The company is pleased with its progress in China and expects its shipments to distributors to reflect underlying demand more closely as available supply improves.
On a global scale, STAAR Surgical delivered record revenue through the first nine months. The company's APAC region (excluding China) grew 4%, further solidifying its position in the market.
The company's strong performance is attributed to several factors, including an ongoing shift from lasers to lenses, which is being driven by increasing demand for premium refractive procedures, including EVO+, as cited by Aier. The adoption of STAAR Surgical's toric lenses has also raised its average selling prices, contributing to the growth in revenue.
STAAR Surgical continues to innovate and expand its product offerings, with a focus on bringing its next generation of products to patients. The company's clinical trial process for two new lenses has begun, further demonstrating its commitment to innovation and patient care.
