Strategy Delivers Record-Breaking Quarter as Bitcoin Price Surge Yields $21 Billion Gain
Strategy, a leading institutional holder of Bitcoin, has reported an exceptionally strong third quarter, marked by a record-breaking fair value gain on its digital assets and significant capital raise. According to the company's Q3 2026 earnings webinar transcript, Strategy now holds 848,517 Bitcoin and recorded a $21 billion fair value gain on its Bitcoin holdings in Q3.
The surge in Bitcoin price during the quarter led to an increase of approximately $13.9 billion in the value of Strategy's digital assets. As a result, the company's operating income reached a record high of $20.9 billion, with net income standing at $19.1 billion and diluted earnings per share (EPS) at $44.75.
Phong Le, President and Chief Executive Officer of Strategy, highlighted the company's commitment to actively managing its Bitcoin holdings and cash reserves to benefit both long-term common stock shareholders and digital credit investors. The sheer scale of Strategy's reserves gives it a market-leading advantage to navigate bull and bear market cycles.
The company's treasury assets have grown significantly, reaching $74 billion as of Q3 2026. This places Strategy among the top seven treasuries in the S&P 500 companies when including all cash and Bitcoin on its balance sheet. The value of Strategy's digital assets has also increased, with a fair value gain of approximately $21 billion recorded in Q3.
Notably, the company's capital base has strengthened, allowing it to weather bear markets while preparing for exponential growth in bull markets. As of October 23rd, Bitcoin per share had grown from approximately 56,600 sats at the end of 2020 to over 187,700 sats, reflecting a CAGR of around 23%.
Strategy's capital raise during Q3 was substantial, with approximately $5.4 billion raised, bringing the total year-to-date capital raise to $21.2 billion. This strategic move has further positioned the company for future growth and strengthened its capital base.
The significance of Strategy's milestone achievement is evident in its ability to deliver record-breaking operating income and net income, with diluted EPS at an all-time high. As Bitcoin continues to appreciate in value, Strategy remains well-positioned to capitalize on this trend, amplifying BTC yield in the long term with a stronger capital base and more robust reserves.
With a 25th consecutive quarter of adding more Bitcoin to its balance sheet, Strategy solidifies its position as the largest institutional holder of Bitcoin worldwide. As the company continues to navigate the ever-evolving landscape of digital assets, it remains committed to actively managing its holdings and capital base to drive long-term growth and success.
