Texas Instruments Continues to Ride Wave of Semiconductor Demand with Strong Q3 Results

The third quarter of 2026 was a triumphant one for Texas Instruments (TI), as the company's revenue surged 28% year-over-year, reaching $6.1 billion. This significant growth was driven by broad demand across all end markets and regions, according to Haviv Ilan, TI's Chief Executive Officer.

As reported on the company's Q3 2026 earnings conference call, Analog revenue grew a remarkable 32% year-over-year, while Embedded Processing saw a 21% increase in the same period. The only segment that did not show growth was Other, which declined by 6% from the year-ago quarter.

TI's end markets also witnessed substantial gains, with Industrial revenue increasing more than 40% year-over-year and Automotive seeing mid-teens growth in the same period. Data Center revenue skyrocketed 95% year-over-year, while Personal Electronics remained relatively flat year-over-year but grew upper single digits sequentially. Communications Equipment also showed growth both year-over-year and sequentially.

Julie Knecht, TI's Chief Financial Officer, highlighted the company's financial performance during the quarter. She noted that gross profit margin increased 280 basis points sequentially to 64% of revenue, while operating expenses remained steady at $1 billion. Operating profit jumped 73% year-over-year to $2.9 billion, and net income reached $2.4 billion, or $2.62 per share.

TI's capital management results were also impressive, with cash flow from operations reaching $3.4 billion in the quarter and $9.9 billion on a trailing 12-month basis. The company paid $1.3 billion in dividends during the quarter, bringing its total dividend payments over the past 12 months to $5.8 billion.

The company's balance sheet remains strong, with $8.1 billion of cash and short-term investments at the end of the third quarter. Inventory levels rose by $67 million from the prior quarter, while days outstanding decreased two days sequentially.

Looking ahead to the fourth quarter, TI expects its revenue to be in the range of $5.8 billion-$6.3 billion, with earnings per share forecasted between $2.45 and $2.79. The company also provided guidance on its effective tax rate for 2027, expecting it to be around 13%-14%.
