U.S. Global Investors Sees Opportunity Amid Market Volatility

In a recent conference call, U.S. Global Investors' CEO and Chief Investment Officer Frank Holmes highlighted the importance of understanding market volatility in making investment decisions. According to Holmes, volatility is a normal part of long-term investing, and recognizing this can help investors make more informed choices.

During his presentation, Holmes referred to a slide titled "The DNA of Volatility," which illustrates how different asset classes exhibit varying levels of daily price fluctuations. The S&P 500 index, for example, experiences minimal daily price swings, while gold and oil are more volatile. Bitcoin's volatility is comparable to that of oil and gold on a daily basis but increases significantly over longer periods.

Holmes also drew attention to the NYSE Arca Airline Index, which has greater volatility than U.S. Global Investors' JETS ETF, particularly over 10-day periods. He noted that gold-related assets, such as GOAU, exhibit higher price fluctuations when compared to other asset classes.

The company's CEO emphasized the significance of understanding these relationships and how they can impact an investment portfolio. For instance, he pointed out that GROW, the company's stock, is influenced by the performance of gold-related assets and airlines.

As U.S. Global Investors continues to navigate market fluctuations, its strategy remains focused on creating thematic products using a Smart Beta 2 approach. By acknowledging and understanding volatility, investors can make more informed decisions and potentially capitalize on opportunities that arise from this natural market phenomenon.
