Wipro's Q2 Performance Shines: Strong Demand, AI Adoption, and Strategic Gains

In a recently concluded conference call, Wipro shared its second-quarter earnings, painting a picture of resilience and strategic progress. Despite a largely unchanged demand environment, the company has managed to maintain momentum in key sectors.

The CEO, Srini Pallia, highlighted that clients are increasingly looking to accelerate AI adoption and drive long-term value. In BFSI, strong momentum continues, with clients focused on cost optimization, legacy modernization, and scaling agentic AI across their enterprise. Digital-native firms are driving demand in the technology sector, particularly in investments related to custom silicon, design-to-manufacture, and physical AI.

Wipro's performance in EMR has also seen growth emerging, with good wins in previous quarters ramping up. The company continues to gain traction across markets, particularly in BPS and engineering. In the consumer sector, good traction is being seen in CPG, travel, and transportation, supported by recent new wins and revenue from the Olam deal.

Financially, Wipro's IT services revenue stood at $2.61 billion for Q2, flat sequentially but up 0.6% year-on-year in constant currency. The operating margin improved to 16.5%, a 0.5% increase compared to last quarter. Three of the company's four SMUs reported sequential growth, with Americas 1 declining due to client-specific issues and softness in healthcare.

The APMEA SMU maintained strong traction, growing sequentially and year-on-year, driven by consumer, tech, and comms sectors. Wipro closed $2.6 billion in total contract value this quarter, signing nine large deals that reflect a healthy mix of new business and expansion of existing engagements.

One notable example of a consulting-led AI-powered transformation deal was highlighted. A global financial institution engaged Wipro to accelerate its transformation through an AI-enabled operating model, aiming for faster execution, broader AI adoption, and an agile operating model. Another example is the engagement with a mid-market consumer products company, where Wipro will establish an AI capability center in India to scale engineering and technology operations for their ERP modernization, cloud-native platforms, and build AI capabilities.

The conference call highlighted tangible returns from recent strategic investments, such as Mindsprint, which has strengthened Wipro's position in food and agriculture and opened new market opportunities. Overall, the performance showcases Wipro's resilience and strategic prowess in navigating a largely unchanged demand environment, with an emphasis on AI adoption and digital transformation.
