Yum! Brands Ignites Growth Engines for Long-Term Success
Yum! Brands, a leading global restaurant company, has concluded its third quarter 2026 with notable accomplishments that have set the stage for sustained growth and profitability. In a recent conference call, CEO Chris Turner highlighted the pivotal nature of this quarter, citing the successful divestiture of Pizza Hut at the start of September amidst navigating an industry-wide U.S. food safety issue.
"I could not be more pleased with how our teams performed," Turner emphasized, expressing gratitude to the Pizza Hut team members and franchise partners for their contributions to Yum! before wishing them continued success in their new endeavors. The completion of this transaction marks a significant milestone in Yum!'s transformation towards a sharper focus on its core priorities.
Turner underscored that these priorities – battling for the future consumer, accelerating restaurant unit economics, and reaching the full potential of Byte and the company's digital capabilities – are key drivers of growth and deliver high-quality total shareholder returns over the long term. The leadership is confident in Taco Bell's magic formula, which has shown resilience despite a challenging QSR industry backdrop.
Specifically, at Taco Bell, same-store sales strengthened week after week from July lows and have been outperforming the QSR industry since September. This recovery reinforces confidence in the brand's ability to navigate challenges while positioning it for sustained long-term growth.
In another significant development, KFC has commenced its modernization strategy as part of the Raise the B.A.R. initiative, aiming to be the most modern chicken Quick Service Restaurant (QSR) globally. This entails a refreshed brand identity, enhanced marketing efforts, a steady stream of innovations, and a value platform. The brand has achieved system sales growth of 6%, driven by 7% unit growth and 1% same-store sales growth.
On an international scale, excluding China, KFC's system sales surged 9%, accompanied by a 4% increase in same-store sales. This reflects the successful execution of value menus, high-impact innovations, and continuous digital and delivery growth across these markets. The Middle East region exemplifies how this strategy can yield strong results, with the introduction of Worth It, an everyday value platform that harmonizes value news with craveable innovation.
With its core priorities aligned, Yum! Brands is poised to drive long-term success through enhanced restaurant unit economics and digital capabilities. The company's recent accomplishments demonstrate a steadfast commitment to growth, profitability, and shareholder returns, leaving investors optimistic about the future prospects of this global restaurant leader."
