BWX Technologies' Strong Q3 Performance Reinforces Growth Guidance Amid Rising Demand for Nuclear Solutions

The third quarter of 2026 proved to be a resounding success for BWX Technologies, with the company delivering on its growth guidance despite increased investment in nuclear national security and commercial power markets. In a conference call held earlier this week, Rex Geveden, President and CEO of BWXT, outlined the company's commitment to meeting customer demand while executing well across both operating segments.

Geveden emphasized that the need to address economic, national, and energy security challenges globally has driven increased investment by customers in nuclear national security and commercial power markets. This demand is expected to continue, with public and private sources funding initiatives to reconstitute strategic deterrence capabilities and sustain and grow nuclear power generation fleets.

What sets BWXT apart from its competitors, according to Geveden, is the company's ability to translate this demand into executable programs and sustained financial growth. The company's technical capabilities, industrial scale, and position in the nuclear value chain enable it to deliver integrated solutions for customers and capture opportunities across these markets.

The government operations segment delivered a strong quarter, with good operating performance across business lines driving adjusted EBITDA margin of 22.6%. This reflected improved efficiency, operational discipline, and higher manufacturing volume. The company also booked its annual fuel contract for $189 million and is actively negotiating the next multi-year pricing agreement.

In special materials, BWXT's defense fuels enrichment and high-purity depleted uranium programs continue to ramp, driving revenue growth in the quarter. The company remains on track to test a prototype centrifuge by the end of this year and has initiated construction of a new facility that will drive meaningful revenue growth in the fourth quarter and through 2027.

The technical services segment also saw outperformance on key programs, including Hanford and Savannah River. The company was selected to provide a conceptual design for a lithium processing facility at the Y-12 National Security Complex in support of strategic deterrence, with down selection expected in the first half of 2027.

Finally, BWXT's advanced nuclear segment saw significant activity, including completion of the core barrel assembly for Project Pele and hosting Energy Secretary Chris Wright at the company's Innovation Campus to showcase progress on reactor delivery to Idaho National Laboratory next year.
