Cavco Industries Sets New Records for Unit Shipments and Revenue in Q2 2027
Cavco Industries, a leading manufacturer of mobile, modular, and park model homes, has reported strong financial results for the second quarter of fiscal year 2027. In a conference call with investors on October 30th, 2026, company executives highlighted several key achievements that demonstrate the company's continued growth and momentum.
According to Bill Boor, President and Chief Executive Officer, Cavco was able to exceed previous records for unit shipments and revenue in Q2 2027. The company shipped a record 5,972 homes during the quarter, with revenue reaching $656 million, a 7.6% increase from the previous quarter and a 17.9% year-over-year gain.
Notably, Cavco's backlog averaged a healthy 8-10 weeks at the end of the quarter, indicating strong demand for the company's products despite slowing orders in the winter months. On a same-plant basis, orders were up high single digits compared to last year, and down sequentially from a very strong Q1.
The company's gross margin also increased 30 basis points from last quarter, a good outcome given ongoing materials inflation. This was achieved through product pricing increases that offset the negative impact of growing materials costs. The consolidated average selling price of Cavco's homes increased due to higher prices for both single-section and multi-section homes.
Executives also highlighted the growing role being played by data center workforce housing in the company's orders, shipments, and backlogs. While the company does not intend to break out specific numbers for this channel, it was noted that healthy backlogs going into the quarter did not have a meaningful impact on shipments.
"We're entering the winter months, and orders are slowing as they typically do," said Bill Boor. "However, we're shipping more than last year, orders are slowing but are well above last year's levels, and our backlog is 63% higher."
Cavco's strong performance in Q2 2027 is a testament to the company's ability to adapt to changing market conditions and capitalize on growth opportunities. As the affordable housing supply deficit continues to drive demand for factory-built homes, Cavco is well-positioned to take advantage of this trend.
