Comfort Systems USA Soars: Q2 2026 Earnings Exceed Expectations
The second quarter earnings call of Comfort Systems USA, a leading provider of mechanical and electrical systems, has revealed impressive growth in revenue, profitability, and bookings. The company's quarterly revenue exceeded $3 billion for the first time, with a significant increase of 92% compared to the same period last year.
CEO Brian Lane expressed his satisfaction with the quarter's performance, highlighting the excellent execution by the company's teams. He noted that the mechanical business experienced a sharp increase in profitability, while the electrical segment also performed exceptionally well. Bookings continued to trend upwards, and the backlog increased to a new high of $14.1 billion.
"We had a fantastic quarter with amazing execution by our teams," said Lane. "This is the first time that our quarterly revenue has exceeded $3 billion. We earned $12.53 per share this quarter, which is an increase of 92% compared to a year ago."
The company's financial performance was equally impressive, with CFO Bill George reporting a same-store revenue growth of 44%. Electrical segment revenue grew by 81%, while mechanical segment revenue increased by 40%. Gross profit was $844 million for the second quarter of 2026, $334 million higher than a year ago. The gross profit percentage grew to a noteworthy 25.9% this quarter, compared to 23.5% for the same period last year.
"Our results were once again extraordinary," said George. "We estimate that 2026 same-store revenue growth will likely finish with a full-year increase that is in the mid to high 30% range."
The company also increased its quarterly dividend by $0.10 to $0.90 per share, reflecting its confidence in future growth prospects. Comfort Systems USA's strong performance has set the stage for continued success in the second half of 2026 and beyond.
"Thanks to our amazing people, we expect strong results for the rest of 2026 and continuing success into 2027," said Lane. The company's focus on innovation, people development, and operational efficiency is expected to drive growth and profitability in the coming quarters.
The acquisition of Hunt Electric, a leading electrical business based in Utah, has also been finalized and is expected to contribute about $250 million of annualized revenue. This strategic move reflects Comfort Systems USA's commitment to expanding its service offerings and geographic reach.
