Hafnia Reports Stellar Q2 2026 Results, Boosts Dividend Payout to Record-High 90%

Hafnia, a leading transportation company specializing in refined oil products, has released its Q2 2026 results, showcasing an exceptional quarter for the tanker business overall.

The second-strongest quarter in Hafnia's history, except for the third quarter of 2022, was driven by geopolitical uncertainties and increased tonne-mileage transportation. As a result, the company recorded a net profit of approximately $278 million, leading to a significant dividend payout of $250 million, representing a 90% payout ratio.

This marks the 18th consecutive quarter that Hafnia has returned capital to its shareholders through dividends, with CEO Mikael emphasizing the importance of timing investments during low market cycles and returning capital during strong periods. The company's Net Loan-to-Value threshold-based dividend policy ensures that as the loan-to-value ratio decreases, the payout ratio increases, reaching 90% when it falls below 20%. As of the end of Q2, Hafnia was at just above 13% in Net Loan-to-Value, resulting in a 90% payout.

CEO Mikael highlighted that this represents 21% of an annual basis payback, which is remarkably high. The company's dividend policy aims to balance the return of capital to shareholders with strategic investments during low market periods. Hafnia's modern fleet, averaging 9.7 years in age and significantly younger than the global average of 14 years, plays a crucial role in this strategy, enabling efficient operations and reducing fossil fuel consumption.

The company's strong Q2 performance is reflected in its market value, which has increased to $4.4 billion as of the end of the quarter. This substantial growth highlights both the company's financial health and the overall strength of the tanker business during this period. As the shipping industry continues to navigate complex market dynamics, Hafnia's commitment to strategic investments and capital return is expected to drive further success in the coming quarters.

The inclusion of TORM shares' dividend payout policy within Hafnia's own approach demonstrates a broader industry trend towards prioritizing shareholder returns during periods of strong performance. As Hafnia continues to navigate this evolving landscape, its focus on strategic investment and capital return is likely to remain a key driver of its success.
