Landstar System, Inc. Exceeds Expectations in Q2 2026 with 18% Revenue Growth
Good afternoon, and welcome to Landstar System, Inc.'s second quarter earnings release conference call.
The company's President and CEO, Frank Lonegro, took the stage to deliver his opening remarks. 'I'd like to thank our BCOs and agents and all of the Landstar employees who support them every day,' he said. This sentiment was echoed by other executives on the call, highlighting the importance of the company's network of independent business owners in driving its success.
One of the key highlights of the quarter was the company's revenue growth. Revenue was up 18% year-over-year, with the net BCO truck count performance showing the strongest quarterly improvement since the first quarter of 2022. This outperformance of pre-pandemic typical seasonality is a testament to the company's ability to adapt and thrive in a changing market.
Another major bright spot was the performance of Landstar's heavy haul service offering. The company generated approximately $164 million of heavy haul revenue during the 2026 second quarter, an 18% increase over the 2025 second quarter. This achievement was driven by a 9% increase in heavy haul volume and an 8% increase in heavy haul revenue per load.
While the geopolitical uncertainty experienced thus far in 2026 presents challenges for the company, Frank Lonegro remains optimistic about Landstar's future prospects. 'Notwithstanding the geopolitical uncertainty,' he said, 'our focus continues to be on accelerating our business model and executing on our strategic growth initiatives.'
The company is continuing to invest in its foundational work, putting it in a great position to leverage improving freight market conditions. It also remains focused on its commitment to continuous improvement in the level of service and support provided to customers, agents, BCOs, and carriers each and every day.
On the new agent front, Landstar was thrilled to welcome an $18 million freight broker from the Midwest to its agent network earlier this month. This represents one of the largest new agent signings in the past 15 years, demonstrating the company's continued ability to attract high-quality agents who can support its growth.
Overall, Landstar System, Inc.'s Q2 2026 results demonstrate the company's resilience and ability to thrive in a challenging market. With revenue up 18% year-over-year, the company is well-positioned for future success.
