Macy's Inc. Reports Strong Q2 2027 Earnings, Exceeding Expectations

Macy's Inc., the retail giant, has reported a robust second quarter 2027 performance, exceeding expectations across various key financial metrics. The company's Chairman and CEO, Tony Spring, highlighted the strong momentum of its 'A Bold New Chapter' strategy during a recent conference call.

Despite market uncertainty, Macy's Inc. delivered revenue growth, comparable sales increases across all nameplates and channels, and better-than-expected performance across all key financial metrics. The company's net sales, adjusted EBITDA, and adjusted diluted EPS all outpaced guidance, with the latter rising to $0.63.

The Macy's nameplate led the charge, achieving its fifth consecutive quarter of positive comps, fueled by the success of the Reimagine 200 initiative. Bloomingdale's achieved double-digit comparable sales growth for the second consecutive quarter and set a new record for second-quarter sales volume, while Bluemercury delivered another quarter of solid comparable sales growth.

According to Tony Spring, the company's 'A Bold New Chapter' strategy is driving this performance through meaningful customer engagement and strong execution. He praised the talented colleagues behind the results, stating that they are making a difference every day and delivering tangible results through their customer-led focus.

The Q2 2027 results reflect a significant improvement from previous quarters, with Macy's Inc.'s comparable sales growth reaching 2.7%. On a go-forward basis, the company continued to outperform, with its comparable sales rising 2.8%. The net tariff refund benefit contributed to the adjusted EPS of $0.63.

When excluding the net tariff refund benefit, adjusted EPS was 14% above the prior year and exceeded the high end of guidance. This impressive performance is a testament to Macy's Inc.'s ability to adapt and innovate in response to market changes, ultimately benefiting its customers and investors alike.
