Sally Beauty Holdings Delivers Strong Quarter Amidst Strategic Growth Initiatives
Sally Beauty Holdings recently reported its third-quarter fiscal 2026 results, showcasing a solid performance that exceeded expectations. The company's President and Chief Executive Officer, Denise Paulonis, emphasized during the conference call that the quarter delivered top and bottom line results within guidance ranges.
The key highlights from the quarter include net sales totaling $935 million with comparable sales flat, adjusted operating income of $87 million, and adjusted diluted EPS coming in at $0.55, an 8% increase versus a year ago. This performance enabled Sally Beauty Holdings to generate strong cash flow from operations of $81 million, continued to return value to shareholders.
The Sally segment led the quarter with strong growth, delivering comparable sales growth of 1.6%. This was driven by balanced growth in both transactions and ticket, as well as strong performance across both stores and e-commerce. Within the Sally segment, color continued to be a standout performer, up 8% on a total basis, while Sally U.S. and Canada delivered growth of 9%. Fragrance also showed impressive momentum.
The company's strategic initiatives aimed at driving growth in key categories are beginning to bear fruit. Hair care trends have started to improve leading up to the category reset that is rolling out this month, which includes refining product assortments and expanding men's offerings. New brands such as Yellow and NatureLab will be part of the assortment update.
Looking at the BSG segment, stylist sentiment has remained consistent through fiscal 2026. However, comparable sales declined 2.1% in the quarter due to softness in hair care sales. Despite this, color services continue to be strong, and add-on services have shown inconsistency.
The company's four key growth drivers include understanding and activating the customer, optimizing product assortment, expanding addressable market, and driving operational excellence. Sally Beauty Holdings is focused on accelerating innovation pipeline expansion, reinforcing value proposition, and reinvigorating the care category.
At Sally, CRM and performance marketing are driving new customer acquisition through successful campaigns such as Save and Skip the Salon. This messaging will be rebranded to Your Beauty Journey, No Salon Required in Q4, indicating a continued emphasis on digital strategies to drive growth.
